Children’s
Lit Fest Lock-In
March 6-7, 2009 Friday-Saturday
For students
who have qualified, we’re planning a fun evening of activities. Here are some logistical details regarding
the Lock-In:
·
This will be a supervised sleepover at Northview School.
After school on Friday, March 6, students should plan to arrive back at
Northview by 6:00 p.m. (Adventure
Club students may come directly from there).
They should bring a sleeping bag and pillow along with items such as a
toothbrush and toothpaste. Because they
will not change into pajamas, children should wear comfortable clothes for
sleeping.
- A pizza supper on the evening of March 6 will be
provided for the children. Popcorn
will be available for students.
Breakfast on the morning of March 7 will also be provided. Students are also welcome to bring their
own individually-wrapped snacks, but are encouraged to bring non-messy,
dry snacks. Children may also bring
their own refillable water bottles.
- During the evening, author Judy Young will reveal how her
ideas become books as she discusses the “writerly life” as an author. Children’s poet Kenn Nesbitt will also, through his
unique sense of humor, discuss creativity and the writing process. Signed copies of their respective books
will be available for sale prior to the Lock-In. Order forms will be sent home prior to
the Lock-In.
- There will be opportunities for students to play
video and board games. Students are
welcome to bring their own handheld gaming devices (such as a Nintendo DS)
as well as board or card games (Monopoly, Uno, etc.). However,
students will be responsible for any items they bring. Northview will not be responsible for
lost or damaged electronic or board games.
- Northview’s standard policy towards cell phones will
apply. The cell phone policy is
available on our school website in the parent handbook at http://www.nkcsd.k12.mo.us/schools/handbooks/northview.pdf
- Students will have opportunities to watch one of
several movies. If you prefer that
your child not watch a PG movie,
please note this on the form below.
- Students will eat breakfast between 7:30 and 8:00 AM
on Saturday morning. Students may
be picked up beginning at 8:00 AM.
- As a parent, if you would like to re-live your own
Dodgeball glory days, feel free to sign up below for the midnight “Dads
and Dodgeball” session (Moms are also certainly welcome to join the fray!). Please do not bring younger siblings or
children.
If you have any questions,
please call or email me 413-6906 dschrag@nkcsd.k12.mo.us
Thank you for your support of
the Lit Fest Lock-In!
