3rd Grade Projects

Kid's Review is an online project where our class and 2 other 3rd grade classes read and wrote reviews for the KC3 Readers.  KC3 Readers are books chosen by the Kansas City for 3rd graders, there are 10 books in all.  Students worked in groups of 2 to read the book and each student wrote their own summary of the book.  Each student then typed up their summary and designed a picture to go along with the story.  I then posted the student's work on the Kid's Review Webpage.  We can then share our reviews with each other and the world.

Don't Freeze on the MAP Night Project
Students work in groups of 2 to research 3rd grade skills and prepare a question and answer PowerPoint slide to show understanding of the concepts that will be on the MAP test.  Students will make a Test Taking Brochure and Invitation for parents.  At the parent involvement activity, Don't Freeze on the MAP Test Night, students will present their PowerPoint slide to parents and explain what they have learned.

M&M Project
During this project groups work to research the history of M&M's, the psychology of color and the marketing of food products based on color.  Each group the sorts a bag of M&M and shows their data by making a graph in Microsoft Excel.

Earth Day Groceries Project

Students learn about Earth Day and simple things they can do to help take care of the Earth.  We watch movies on United Streaming, read books and do various activities.  After learning about Earth Day, students decorate paper bags from a local grocery store using the information they just learned.  The paper bags are then returned to the store to be handed out on Earth Day to educate the public about the importance of taking care of the Earth.
