 8 Paraphrasing and note-taking

8 Retelling information

 Objectives: 

8 Students will paraphrase mastered material over an objective of their choice taught during their 3rd grade year.

8 Students will retell information using Publisher to produce a display of their choice.

8 Student will state their main idea and give 3 supporting details.

8 Students will be paired up with a 2nd grader and explaining their final product.

 Anticipatory Set:

8 Brainstorm a detailed list of objectives taught over the school year.

8 Students choose their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choice from the generated list.

8 The teacher will pair students according to their choices. (i.e. like choices, together)

 Procedure:

8 Students work together with their partner to produce notes/rough sketch of their project. Students can use textbook, trade books, or other material used throughout the year to complete their notes.

8 Students must have their notes checked by teacher before beginning their Publisher display.

8 Students work in pairs designing their final Publisher project.

8 Students use a rubric to insure that they have ALL details needed for the project.

 Closure:

8 Students share their projects with second graders, which will excite them about ALL they will learn as 3rd graders! (‘stay and stray’ is an option for sharing their project)
