Dear
Family,
We finished the Cognitive Ability Test
today. You will receive a letter
detailing your child’s scores when they come in. There is no school on Monday, October 11, for
teacher staff development. We didn’t
have spelling words this week due to testing.
Our spelling words for next week are:
note, those, cute, joke, use, trip, best, jump, children, truck. Our challenge words are: sound, vibration, pitch, volume, loudness.
Our first publishing party will be on Friday,
October 8, at 11:45 in the classroom.
Those students who attend ELL class aren’t with us during writing time,
so they will be in the ELL class at this time.
Please come and listen to our first published stories of the year! Our lunchtime is 12:20 if you’d like to stay
for lunch with your child.
First quarter is almost over! Parent teacher conferences are coming
up. Please complete the form below and
return to school so that we will be ready to meet. You may want to jot down some questions in advance,
as I will be on a tight time schedule.
Friday is Walk to School Day. Meet at Gladstone Bowl, Bargain Barn, or ARC
Thrift Store at 8:15 for the walking fun.
(I will be tutoring at this time, so I won’t be able to join you.)
We have been learning about
sound. Students can earn extra credit by
making their own instrument at home and sharing it with the class. You can use boxes, rubber bands, strings,
beans, etc. to create an instrument. The
students have learned that vibrations make sounds, so they need to find
materials that can vibrate to make sounds.
