The North Kansas City School District's Automotive Technology Program offers state of the art equipment. For real-world experience, the shop is equipped with the same tools and equipment as most dealerships. Hunter Engineering Corporation is the brand of choice for high quality, high-end suspension and alignment equipment and OTC or Snap-On is the choice for electronic diagnostic and troubleshooting.


Here are some of the pieces of equipment that students will learn to use.

Vision Premier -

The Vision Premier computer-based diagnostic system gives complete electrical, fuel, ignition, and mechanical system testing capabilities. Today's complex automobiles use multiple computer systems, and up to hundreds of sensors. This diagnostic tool can help pinpoint problems and performance issues.

Genisys 2000 -

The Genisys 2000 is a hand held diagnostic system. This is the professionals’ choice in diagnostic trouble shooting of electronic engine controls. This system can communicate with almost every onboard computer in most vehicles.

Hydraulic Verticle Lifts -

No automotive shop is complete without vertical lifts. Offering five verticle lifts; including a 9,000 lbs Ben Pearson truck lift, students have the opportunity to work on all sizes of automobiles. All-American made, these shop lifts are very reliable and well trusted.

 

 

 

 

 

Hydro Blast -

Using hot water and biodegradable detergent, the hydro-blast machine cleans parts in 15 minutes or less. Your heads, cams, bearings, or any other parts will be cleaned automatically. A professional alternative to solvent washing with hazardous chemicals.

 

Hunter Engineering Antivibration System

The Hunter Engineering GSP 9700 Antivibration System solves virtually all wheel and tire vibration issues. An industry first, this tool simulates a road force test, to diagnose and eliminate vibration and balancing issues in seconds.

 

Computer Alignment System -

A high-end, yet economical alignment system solution. With a Windows based environment, the on screen graphical interface displays easy to ready charts, graphs, and information.

Fluid Exchangers -

Fluid exchangers for cooling systems and automatic transmissions.

 

 

Additional Equipment

  • Exhaust System - The shop offers a state of the art exhaust ventilation system, allowing cars to be run inside the shop, without needing fresh air.
  • Power Pusher - moves cars by pushing using electric torque assist
  • AllData - Windows based software program used for looking up all domestic and foreign automotive manuals, wiring diagrams, part numbers, etc.
  • AllData Service Center - Windows based software database program used by most dealerships for keeping track of customers, order inquiries, expense accounts, etc.
