Jack Stow's 1973 Mach I was a six year project. The restoration included a complete suspension system which lowered the car two inches. The steering and braking systems were rebuilt. The 351 Cleveland engine was rebuilt and several Edelbrock components were used including a 600 CFM carburetor, intake, water pump and wet shot nitrous system. The rear end gears were changed from the stock 2.75:1 traction-lock to a 3.80:1 traction-loc and the wheels are 17 inch Bullit wheels from a 2004 Mustang. The interior has been factory restored with the addition of a Pioneer sound system. Enhancements to the body include shaved door handles with door poppers, shaved side lights and a shaved antenna. The color is “Screaming Yellow”.

Students in the Automotive Technology program are allowed to bring in their own cars to make repairs and adjustments. The work must be relevant to the current class material. For example, while studying the module on wheels and tires, the students would be allowed to bring their automobiles to the shop for alignment work.

The North Kansas City School District's Automotive Program is involved with SkillsUSA. This is a student organization that promotes leadership, work ethics, soft skills, and many other career oriented skills. Throughout the year students participate in competitions and other work related career studies at CTEC and other career centers.
