Classroom Procedures

Grade 1 Mrs. Butler

1. Entering Classroom in the Morning

· Students will wait at the door before entering the classroom.

· The teacher will greet each student as he/she enters.

· If the teacher is not in the classroom, students will wait at the door until the teacher arrives.

2. Morning Work

· Students will hang up backpacks and coats.

· Students will sharpen pencils if needed. Do not sharpen more than two pencils.

· Students will then go to the assigned activity/game area for that table.

3. Hallway Walking

· Students will walk in the hall at all times.

· Voices will be off so hallway walkers will not disturb the learning of other classes.

4. Bathroom Breaks

· Students will walk to the bathrooms in a quiet girl and boy line.

· There will be no talking or playing in the bathroom.

· Respect will be shown to other learners.

5. Work Procedures

· All students are expected to complete their work in a timely manner that is appropriate for first grade.

· If a child brings home any work that is not the assigned homework for that day, he/she will need to work on using time appropriately in the classroom.

6. Homework Agendas

· All homework agendas need to be signed nightly. This lets me know it has been seen. Signing the agendas sends a very strong message to your child of the importance of responsibility. Agendas are an important communication between school and home.

7. Homework

· Students will have homework on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night.

· If you could not help your child with homework, write a message in the agenda.

· There will be no homework on Friday!!!
